If your Minnesota title has been stolen, misplaced or simply was never received from the State of Minnesota, you well need to apply for a duplicate title. A duplicate title can be applied for at any of our License Centers or applied for using our drop boxes.

How do I Apply for a Duplicate Minnesota Title?

To apply for a duplicate, you must be the vehicle owner and bring in your Driver’s License/ID. You will also need to provide us with some basic vehicle information such as the license plate number and VIN. If you are not the owner of the vehicle you are applying for, you must have an Application for Duplicate Title completed and signed by the vehicle owner. Vehicle owners may wish to complete this form as well to streamline the process at the License Center.  Please view this Application Guide to see what is required to be filled out.

Does the Title have a Lien Listed?

If the title has a lien holder listed on it, and you want the duplicate title printed without the lien, we will need the original signed lien release card or a notarized lien release from the lending institution listed. If the lien is still in effect, or you wish to leave the lien listed on the duplicate title no action is required.

What Will I Pay?

The fee for a Duplicate Title is $21.50.
