Anoka County Parks would like to engage current park users and residents that are unfamiliar with the park system to assist in future planning efforts. In collaboration with the Metropolitan Council, Anoka County Parks will be engaging the community through various outreach efforts to ensure that park amenities reflect the changing community needs. Projects that are open for public feedback will be listed on this page as they become available.

Coon Lake County Park - Regional Park Application

Anoka County is applying to add Coon Lake County Park to the regional system. Coon Lake offers diverse nature-based resources, including Coon Lake (a 1500-acre recreation and fishing lake), wetlands, prairie, and woodlands. Other amenities of the park such as the beach, boat launch, and picnic areas, attract regional visitors throughout the northwest section of Anoka, Washington, Chisago, and Isanti Counties.By changing the designation, the Park benefits by becoming eligible for additional park improvement grant funds, furthering the protection of the Parks natural resources and status, and providing the Park with opportunities for future expansion.

It provides a connection between Anoka and Ramsey counties and connects the Cities of Blaine, Circle Pines, and Lino Lakes. The trail also connects to the East Anoka County Regional Trail, Bunker Chain of Lakes Regional Trail, and the Rice Creek Regional Trail system in Ramsey County.
