| Campaign Finance Reports Available to the Public By law all financial disclosures made by candidates are public documents. Reports submitted by candidates are posted on our Campaign Financial Reports page. |
Campaign Financial Report Requirements and Filing Dates
| ALL candidates must file: CAMPAIGN FINANCIAL REPORT CERTIFICATION OF FILING (PDF) Due 7 days after the general or special election. ALL candidates, regardless of the amount received or expended, and regardless of whether the candidate was elected, must file the Campaign Financial Report Certification of Filing. Minnesota law imposes penalties for non-compliance with this requirement. |
| Financial reports required for candidates or committees who raise or spend $750 or more: All of the reports below use the same CAMPAIGN FINANCIAL REPORT (PDF) |
| Initial report An initial report must be filed within 14 days after a candidate or committee raises or spends more than $750. |
| Pre-primary report Due 10 days before the primary or special primary. This report covers the period from the last previously filed report to five days before the current report is due. |
| Pre-general report Due 10 days before the general election or special election. This report covers the period from the last previously filed report to five days before the current report is due. |
| Post-general report Due 30 days after a general or special election. This report covers the period from the last previously filed report to five days before the current report is due. |
| Annual report An annual report is due on January 31 of each year following the year when the initial report is filed. This report covers the period from the last previously filed report through December 31. |
| Final report
A candidate or committee may file a final report once all debts are paid and all assets in excess of $100 in the aggregate are disposed of. Filing a final report ends campaign reporting activity, but a new initial report must be filed if the candidate or committee raises or spends more than $750 after this point. |
