Roadwork Projects Done by Other Agencies

MnDOT Traffic & Road Conditions Information
Use caution and drive safely. If possible, use alternate routes. Remember, as you travel through a work zone reduce your speed, adjust your lane position away from workers, and prepare for the unexpected. Allow extra time for your trip or, if possible, use an alternate route. Projects may cause some inconvenience, but the benefits will be a safer and more efficient roadway system. Watch for road signs and articles in local newspapers to keep you informed. Your patience and cooperation is sincerely appreciated.

I-35W MnPASS Project

Below are links to Project Updates summarizing upcoming construction and traffic changes for the I-35W MnPASS project.  Updates are posted periodically.

Weekend Closure of County Road C at I-35W - May 15 through May 18
This past week, crews shifted traffic on I-35W between Hwy 36 and Co. Rd. D in preparation to reconstruct a section of I-35W over Co. Rd. C in Roseville. During the work, Co. Rd. C will be closed between Long Lake Rd. and Cleveland Ave. from 10 p.m. Fri, May 15 to 5 a.m. Mon, May 18.

Drivers should use Long Lake Rd., Co. Rd. B2 and Cleveland Ave. to get around the Co. Rd. C closure. I-35W will remain open during this work.

With this part of Co. Rd. C closed, drivers on westbound Co. Rd. C who want to go to southbound I-35W will be detoured to use the ramp at Co. Rd. D:

  • Northbound Cleveland Ave. to westbound Co. Rd. D to southbound I-35W
    • Access from Long Lake Rd. to southbound I-35W ramp will remain open

Drivers on northbound I-35W will still be able to use the exit to Co. Rd. C, but direct access to westbound Co. Rd C will be closed so drivers will need to use Cleveland Ave. to get to Co. Rd. C.

Crews are repairing this section of I-35W as part of the overall reconstruction of the middle highway lanes this year.

MnDOT road work has been identified as a critical service in Governor Walz’s Stay at Home executive order and will continue. We are working to be as flexible as possible with scheduling during this period of lower traffic volumes to keep projects moving forward in a timely manner. Following guidance from state health officials and to prevent further spread of COVID-19, crews will maintain social distancing practices while working.

Other MnDOT Projects in Anoka County

Highway 65/Central and 41st Avenue - Signal Work
Work will begin either Friday, April 24 or Monday, April 27, at the intersection of Hwy 65/Central Avenue and 41st Avenue in Columbia Heights.  Work will begin on the west side of Hwy 65/Central in the northwest and southwest quadrants of the intersection; the west quadrants will close and pedestrians will have to use the east quadrants.

Highway 65 Safety and Mobility Corridor Study
MnDOT, in partnership with Anoka County and the cities of Ham Lake, Blaine and Spring Lake Park, began a far-reaching study of the Hwy 65 Corridor in August 2018. The study will examine a range of cost-effective roadway alternatives to address capacity, access, mobility and safety issues between Bunker Lake Blvd. (Anoka County Rd. 116) in Ham Lake and County Rd. 10/Mounds View Blvd. in Spring Lake Park.  For more information, go to:

Highway 47 Improvements - St. Francis
MnDOT, in partnership with Anoka County and the city of St. Francis, is making improvements to Highway 47 in the city of St. Francis. Hornsby Street - Eureka Avenue Road Closure
In conjunction with MnDOT’s I-35 Design/Build Project and work on Trunk Highway 97, and the upcoming (2019) Hornsby Street Realignment project, the City of Columbus closed Hornsby Street from TH-97 to the Columbus/Forest Lake city border on May 21, 2018.  The road will remained closed until the completion of the aforementioned projects which are anticipated to be finished by late fall/early winter of 2019.  Access from the north on Eureka Avenue will remain open past the boat landing all the way to the Columbus/Forest Lake city border, where an existing driveway is located should vehicles venture that far and need to make a T turn-around.  Please refer to the attached Hornsby Street Exhibit for the location of the proposed road signage for the closure.
