The board listened to the annual presentation by the Metropolitan Mosquito Control District, which this year was represented by Dr. Stephen Manweiller. He spoke to the board about yearly trends, how his organization dealt with COVID-19 restrictions, diseases spread by mosquitoes, the district’s budget, and how they mitigate the impact in the metro area of this seasonal pest. Right-of-Way acquired for Sunfish Lake/Hwys. 10/169 Improvements

The board adopted a resolution that allows for the acquisition of right-of-way to construct a grade-separated interchange and associated railroad crossing at Sunfish Lake Boulevard and U.S. Highways 10/169, in the City of Ramsey. This resolution also includes planned frontage, backage and other corridor improvements along this stretch of roadway. Construction is scheduled to begin in September of 2023. Contract Approved for Highway 10 Congestion Mitigation Plan

The board approved a contract with TKDA for design, environmental documentation, and final design services for the U.S. Highway 10 strategic mitigation project from Hanson Boulevard to Round Lake Boulevard, in the City of Coon Rapids. This project will center on adding an additional travel lane in each direction on U.S. Highway 10, between Hanson and Round Lake boulevards. The project also includes noise walls where warranted, and a widened shoulder for bus traffic. The construction schedule for the proposed improvements will be developed as funds are secured for the construction of this project. For more information on this item, click HERE. Driver Pay Adjusted for Dial-a-Ride Services

The board approved an amendment to the Transit Link service agreement between Anoka County and the Metropolitan Council for existing dial-a-ride services within Anoka County. This action is to address increasing transit driver shortages throughout the state. The Met Council is raising the minimum wage for drivers to $20 per hour and the minimum wage for reservationists to $16.50 an hour to help attract and retain employees. New Trail to be Constructed in Mississippi West Regional Park

The board adopted a resolution supporting a master plan amendment for Mississippi West Regional Park, which will result in an additional trail being constructed within the park to connect the north trail further south, so it links to the Mississippi River trail along the river. This action transpired due to the County Highway Department needing 3.6 acres of parkland for the U.S. Highway 10/Ramsey Boulevard and Riverdale Drive interchange project. Improvements Planned for Bunker Hills Dog Park

Anoka County Parks Director Jeff Perry informed the board that the county will be working with the cities of Andover and Coon Rapids to conduct improvements to the Bunker Hills dog park.
