To honor all of Anoka County’s emergency telecommunicators, the board proclaimed April 9-15 Public Safety Telecommunicators Week. These employees perform an essential function in our society because they are the first and most critical contact citizens have with emergency services. Senior Expo is Saturday, April 15
Commissioner Matt Look noted that the county’s Senior Expo is planned 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 15 at Lord of Life Church in Ramsey. This event will include information booths, entertainment, a free pancake breakfast, blood pressure checks, free mini massages, eyewear repair and cleaning, and more. The handicapped-accessible expo is open to seniors and their families, and there will be ample parking available.

County Enters into Detour Agreements with MnDOT
The board adopted a resolution authorizing the county to enter into a detour agreement with the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), for road construction that will occur in the cities of Blaine, Coon Rapids, and Ham Lake. To facilitate Highway 65 pavement preservation projects, traffic will be routed onto county roads while work is being conducted this year. For more information on this item, click HERE. Several Agreements Approved for Grade-Separated Interchanges

Bayfield Contracting with Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office
The board approved an agreement between Bayfield County, Wis. and the Midwest Medical Examiner’s Office for the office to handle Bayfield County’s autopsies. For more information on this item, click HERE.
Donations Accepted from Patrons

Funds Awarded for Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Roadway, Parking Lot Reconstruction
The board authorized a purchase order in the amount of $159,800 to Hakanson Anderson for the design, engineering, and construction services for roadway and parking lot reconstruction at Rice Creek Chain of Lakes. For more information on this item, click HERE.
Funds Awarded for Design, Engineering Services for Coon Creek Bridge Replacement
The board authorized the award of a contract to TKDA for the design, engineering and project management services for the Coon Creek bridge replacement and trail reconstruction. The current bridge over Coon Creek at Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park has been closed due to a slope failure, resulting in unsafe bridge conditions. For more information on this item, click HERE.
Anoka County Seeking Volunteers for Mighty Mississippi Cleanup Challenge
Commissioner Mike Gamache, chair of the Parks Committee, noted Anoka County Parks is taking part in the Mighty Mississippi Cleanup Challenge this spring and is seeking volunteers to help improve the quality of the river by removing refuse from its banks. There are two opportunities to volunteer:
· 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 22 –– Mississippi West Regional Park, 13900 Traprock St. Ramsey.
· 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 26 –– Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park, 9750 Egret Blvd. NW, Coon Rapids. A volunteer work group from Medtronic will be present at this cleanup.
