1. Can I get an Enhanced Driver's License or Identification Card at the License Centers?

Yes, we process Enhanced Driver's Licenses and Identification Cards at all five offices. We start processing those applications 30 minutes after we open and stop processing them 90 minutes before close.

2. Can I reinstate my driver's license at your locations?

No, any reinstatements that need to be paid must be paid at a State testing location.

3. Do I need a medical card to keep my CDL driver's license?

No, if you have a CDL driver's license, but do not use it for commercial purposes, then you will need to fill out a Medical Self Certificate, stating that you are not required to carry one.

4. Can I apply for both an Identification Card and a Driver's License?

No, Minnesota only allows one valid card. A driver's license would serve the same purpose as an Identification Card.

5. How old do I have to be to get an Identification Card?

In Minnesota you can apply for an ID card at any age as long as you have the Proper Identification Documents.

6. Can I do any testing in your offices?

No, the Anoka County License Centers do not offer any testing, you would need to go to a State office. Locations can be found on their website dvs.dps.mn.gov

7. How early can I renew my driver's license?

If you are over 21, you can renew your driver's license anytime in the year of renewal. If you are under 21, you may come in no more than three weeks before the expiration date. If you are under 18, you must have a parent or legal guardian with you.
