Sadly, scam calls continue to impact members of our community. Recently, scammers claiming to be a part of our office (and other law enforcement agencies) have been trying to obtain money from victims. They even "spoof" legitimate phone numbers for our office so they appear to be more official. They also may use legitimate names of ACSO employees to try to convince victims the call is not deceptive.
As a reminder, here is a list of things law enforcement will NEVER call and ask you for...
- Bail or commissary money on behalf of a friend or family member in jail.
- Gift cards or bitcoin. For any reason.
- Money.
If you receive a phone call from any person claiming to be with law enforcement and asking for money, HANG UP. No legitimate law enforcement agency will call you to ask for money. If you have any questions on if a call is legitimate, please call 763-427-1212 and ask to speak to an officer or deputy. We are happy to ease your mind before you lose your hard earned money!
