Commissioner Schulte Elected Chair, Meisner Vice Chair of County Board
The Anoka County Board of Commissioners elected Commissioner Scott Schulte to serve as chair of the board for 2026 and Commissioner Mandy Meisner to serve as vice chair at the board’s Jan. 6 organizational meeting. The full news release has more information on the new chair and vice chair.
Rules and Procedures Established
The board approved a newly revised list of Roberts Rules of Order, which will govern how meetings are to be conducted in 2026.
Minimum Salaries for Sheriff/County Attorney Established
The board adopted a resolution approving the minimum salaries for the county attorney and county sheriff. Both minimum salaries were set at $192,566.40 annually.
Regular Meeting
New Chair, Vice Chair Provide Statements
New County Board Chair Scott Schulte and Vice Chair Mandy Meisner addressed the board and the public about the board’s goals for 2026. Both focused on the need for all board members to work together to ensure the best outcomes for Anoka County residents. They also noted the board would be working on establishing an annual rotating chair practice following this year, with the commissioner serving as vice chair becoming the chair the following year.
Baugh Street to be reconstructed
The board awarded a contract to North Pine Aggregate, Inc. for the reconstruction of Baugh Street, between 181st Avenue NW and Viking Boulevard in the City of Nowthen. The final bid came in more than $2 million below the county engineer’s estimate. Early construction work on this project, which will focus on tree removal, will start in January.
State Auditors Meet with County
Juli Mader and Felicia Tri from the Office of the State Auditor conducted the entrance meeting for the County’s annual audit for the year ended Dec.31, 2025. The audit report will be completed by June 2026.
