County Employee Recognized for Winning Two Awards

Anoka County Facilities Management and Construction Department Director Andrew Dykstra was commended by the board for recently receiving two awards from the Minnesota City/County Management Association (MCCFMA). The first was a lifetime achievement award for outstanding contributions to facility management in Minnesota, recognizing Dykstra’s commitment to helping start the MCCFMA more than 10 years ago. The second award was the Outstanding Contributor of the Year award for a mentorship program Dykstra helped start with the MCCFMA –– that program is a year long and its purpose is to help engage members in developing their future and the future of local government facility managers in Minnesota. Highway Transportation Building Fuel Station to be Replaced

The board approved a contract with Pump and Meter Services for complete replacement of the county’s existing fueling station located at the Highway Transportation building. For more information, click HERE. 

Portion of Blaine Human Service Center to be Reconstructed

The board approved a contract with CJC Construction for the Blaine Human Services Center Achieve Accessibility upgrades, funded through a direct payment by the State of Minnesota to Anoka County. The construction will focus on improving and expanding services for the disability population visiting the Human Services Center. For more information, click HERE. 

Law Enforcement Contracts Approved

The board approved law enforcement contracts with the cities of Andover, East Bethel and Nowthen for the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office to provide policing services in 2026. For more information, click HERE. 

County Supports City of Anoka’s Grant Application for Highway 47

The board adopted a resolution of support for the City of Anoka’s Local Road Improvement Program Grant funding application for an improvement project between Highway 10 and Bunker Lake Boulevard. The improvements will include a grade-separated design, which will enhance local connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and improve safety for all users. For more information, click HERE. 2026 Property Tax Levy, Budget Approved 

The Anoka County Board of Commissioners approved a 9.4 percent levy increase at the board’s regular meeting Dec. 2. For the median-valued home in Anoka County ($338,00), this represents an annual increase of $84. The amount reflects a multi-year approach by the county to bring deficit spending under control, with the goal being to have the levy at about a 5 to 6 percent increase annually by 2029.
