The Anoka County Family Caregiver Connection (FCC) is a network of services for caregivers and those for whom they care. The network provides volunteer opportunities for Respite Providers.
The Respite Provider offers respite (a period of rest or relief) from caregiving responsibilities to those providing 24-hour, 7 day a week care.
The Role of the Respite Volunteer
A Respite Volunteer works along side other volunteers and is provided ongoing supervision by the Family caregiver Connection Coordinator. Volunteers share in conversation and fellowship with their companion which increases the companions' social ties and connections. Respite Volunteers:
Provide companion care
Share their skills and time
Help the care recipient to remain at home
Volunteers assist with craft projects, simple games and movement activities.
