Permanent absentee voting was approved by the MN Legislature and signed into law in 2023. Voters can now apply to automatically receive an absentee ballot for every election in which they are eligible to vote. This replaces the previous process where voters could join a list to receive an absentee ballot application prior to each election. Minn. Stat. 203B.04, subd. 5
If you applied previously and are on the permanent absentee voter list, you do not need to apply for the ballot anymore.
