Anoka County Fair Bike Valet
Skip the traffic and hard-to-find parking! Use the Anoka County Fair Bike Valet from Commute Solutions & Anoka County Fair!
Parking and traffic are perennial problems for fairgoers, but it doesn't have to be. Anoka County Commute Solutions is partnering with the Anoka County Fair to offer free, monitored bike parking for people who ride their bike to the County Fair. Families are welcome!
The bike valet will operate on two days of the Anoka County Fair:
- Tuesday, July 22nd (Kids Day) - 8:00 AM-9:00 PM
- Saturday, July 26th - 8:00 AM-9:00 PM
We will also have an informational table with biking resources and activities for children, along with some small giveaway items to make your biking experience better.
Directions
Due to a lack of biking and walking infrastructure in the area, we recommend using only side streets, sidewalks, and crossing at controlled intersections. Please plan your route ahead of time.
From the North
Riders coming from North of the fairgrounds should use the Rum River Regional Trail to ride along the river's east banks until they get to 4th Avenue and Pleasant Street. Heading west, cross the Pleasant Street bridge. Take a right and use the sidewalks on the east side of Ferry Street to continue past the railroad tracks to the entrance of the fairgrounds. Continue to Gate 3 where the bike valet will be located.
From the South
Riders coming from the south should consider using trails on the east banks of the Rum River or 4th Avenue to head north from downtown Anoka and the Mississippi River Trail. At 4th Avenue and Pleasant Street, head west and cross the Pleasant Street bridge. Take a right and use the sidewalks on the east side of Ferry Street to continue past the railroad tracks to the entrance of the fairgrounds. Continue to Gate 3 where the bike valet will be located.
From the West
Riders coming from the west should use neighborhood streets and sidewalks to get on McKinley Street, immediately west of the fairgrounds. Cross Ferry Street / TH 47 at the traffic light at the intersection of McKinley Street & Ferry Street. Stay on McKinley Street until you see the trail entrances on the righthand/south side. Use those trails to enter the county park adjacent to the fairgrounds and continue to Gate 3 where the bike valet will be located.
From the East
Riders coming from the east should use sidewalks and neighborhood streets. If you must cross 7th Avenue, there is a controlled intersection at Grant Street & 7th Avenue. Take a left from Grant Street onto 4th Avenue until you come to the Pleasant Street intersection. Heading west, cross the Pleasant Street bridge. Take a right and use the sidewalks on the east side of Ferry Street to continue past the railroad tracks to the entrance of the fairgrounds. Continue to Gate 3 where the bike valet will be located.
Check-in, lock-up, Get in for FREE
It's easy! Check-in with us at Gate 3 at the east side of the fairgrounds, grab a claim check, lock up your bike, and we will give you a free ticket to get into the fair for the day. Riders will be expected to use their own bike lock, and lock and unlock their bikes on their own. Limited locks are available for riders to use in the event that you forget yours at home.
Anoka County Transit and Anoka County Fair staff will supervise the bike racks on 7/22 and 7/26. The bike racks will be locked in the pit area of the race track. Staff will take reasonable steps to protect all checked-in bicycles but will not be responsible for any vandalism, theft, or weather damage to bicycles or other private property stored as part of the bike valet program. We recommend fairgoers leave valuables at home or keep them on their person while attending the fair.
This area will be staffed until 9:00 PM. Please make sure to collect your bike(s) by then, as they will not be supervised after this time.
Left your bike with us and didn't grab it in time?
If you are unable to pick up your bike by 9:00 PM, your bike will remain locked to the rack inside the pit area.
If you leave your bike at the fairgrounds, please pick up your bike Saturday, July 26 between 8:00 am-9:00 pm or Sunday after 7:00 pm. The gate will stay open until the last bike is picked up.
