Anoka County is developing a Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) Plan focused on improving safety on county roads. This action plan will guide roadway safety strategies throughout Anoka County to make our streets and roads safer for everyone, whether you drive, walk, bike, roll, or take transit.

Throughout Minnesota, Anoka County, and around the country, traffic deaths have been rising after years of decline. The SS4A Plan is a tool to reverse this trend locally.

The SS4A Plan will identify a prioritized list of safety improvement projects based on data and stakeholder input. Anoka County will prioritize and secure funding for implementing safety projects.

What is SS4A?

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL) established the SS4A program to distribute funds from 2022-2026. The SS4A program funds regional, local, and Tribal initiatives through grants. The program supports the U.S. Department of Transportation's goal towards zero roadway deaths. You can learn more about the program at this link.

How can I get involved?

Input was gathered from the public to help understand the community's traffic safety concerns. Users were asked to fill out a survey and share a location or corridor they were concerned about in our interactive comment map. The survey and comment map were open to the public through September 30, 2024. Results can be found here.
